Someday, we are going to get the chance to play Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, and when we do, Sony will be hyping it and pushing it onto the market like it is a first-party release.
According to MCV, PlayStation UK’s Fergal Gara says No Man’s Sky is getting the same treatment “as if it was from one of our internal studios,” believing it to be more than a self-published indie release.
“We are going to put the full weight of PlayStation behind it. If it all comes together as well as expected, it will be treated like a first-party release; it is not a self-published small indie title on the platform.”
Of course, No Man’s Sky is not a first-party release, and it will be hitting the PC as well as the PlayStation 4. Such circumstances have not stopped Sony from this wording before. Just last year in fact, Sony gave the same preferential treatment to Destiny, and that was coming out on rival consoles the Xbox 360 and Xbox One!
We’re still waiting for a release date for No Man’s Sky, and it remains in contention with Final Fantasy XV as my most anticipated game. Keep your eyes open at E3 this year, specifically during Sony’s press conference.
