Late during Christmas Eve, major storms worked their way through the U.K. The Guildford-based Hello Games, Joe Danger developers and the minds behind the VGX-stealing No Man’s Sky, fell victim to a major flood.

Today, Hello Games’ Sean Murray provided a status update for the team and No Man’s Sky. First came what was lost during the flood.

“So… our office flooded late on Christmas Eve,” Murray wrote. “It was just one of those unlucky things, but it wiped out pretty much everything in there.”

As for what was lost?

We lost all our PCs, laptops, equipment, furniture, dev-kits, work in the blink of an eye, and our insurer (and those of those around us) seem like we won’t be covered, or at least responsibility is unclear. I don’t want to say out loud the value of what we lost, it’s horrible. It would probably fund a small game :(

Murray goes on to indicate that support for the studio has been overwhelming. Fans, according to the developer, have been “so genuinely overwhelmingly supportive that actually I don’t know what to say.”

No Man’s Sky will not be delayed because of the flood. “We won’t let that happen!” exclaims Murray in the post.

Which is great news. The title looks incredible.
